Gestalt

Phenomenology is a discipline that helps people stand aside from their usual way of thinking so that they can tell the difference between what is actually being perceived and felt in the current situation and what is residue from the past (Idhe, 1977). A Gestalt exploration respects, uses and clarifies immediate, "naive" perception "undebauched by learning" (Wertheimer, 1945, p. 331). Gestalt therapy treats what is "subjectively" felt in the present, as well as what is "objectively" observed, as real and important data. This contrasts with approaches that treat what the patient experiences as "mere appearances" and uses interpretation to find "real meaning."

The goal of Gestalt phenomenological exploration is awareness, or insight. "Insight is a patterning of the perceptual field in such a way that the significant realities are apparent; it is the formation of a gestalt in which the relevant factors fall into place with respect to the whole" (Heidbreder, 1933, p. 355). In Gestalt therapy insight is clear understanding of the structure of the situation being studied.

Awareness without systematic exploration is not ordinarily sufficient to develop insight. Therefore, Gestalt therapy uses focused awareness and experimentation to achieve insight. How one becomes aware is crucial to any phenomenological investigation. The phenomenologist studies not only personal awareness but also the awareness process itself. The patient is to learn how to become aware of awareness. How the therapist and the patient experience their relationship is of special concern in Gestalt therapy (Yontef, 1976, 1982, 1983)

NLP

Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) is the basis for Neuro-Linguistic Psychotherapy (NLP). It was developed by Richard Bandler and John Grinder. The core belief of this theory is that people do not react to their environment as it is, but rather they build their perception from their experiences as they relate to the world around them. Each person develops his or her own map of his or her world, and by doing such, no one ever possesses a map that fully represents the true environment. Because each person experiences different liNLPfe events, and subsequently different reactions to those events, no two people will ever be guided on the same journey. This technique allows a person to view the steps that have led them to where they are and to examine the negative and positive influences, behaviours, and choices that brought them there. NLP also examines areas of success and uses these as a springboard for developing other successful emotions and determines the most efficient way to use these experiences and emotions in everyday situations.

EFT

Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) is an emotional, needle free version of acupuncture that is based on new discoveries regarding the connection between your body’s subtle energies, your emotions, and your health. EFT has been reported successful in thousands of cases covering a huge range of emotional, health and performance issues. It often works where nothing else will.
 

Energy meridians that run through our body can be blocked or disrupted by unresolved emotional issues, thereby compromising our natural healing potential. Quite often, people are aware of the events or memories that trigger emotional discomfort in their lives, but they have not yet connected those memories to the symptoms of disease in their bodies. Using EFT, it is possible to revisit the event(s) in question, and balance the disturbed meridians. Properly done, both emotional anguish and the physical symptoms often subside. Although based on acupuncture, EFT has simplified the realignment process by gently tapping on key meridian points on the head, torso and hands. Traditional acupuncture needles are not necessary in this process.

EFT can address chronic pains, anger, depression, chronic fatigue, traumatic experiences, weight loss, eating disorders, relationship issues, fear, anxiety, insomnia, panic attacks, migraines, headaches and allergies.
